Commie Camp’s West Coast Premiere was PACKED!

Sunday’s Commie Camp screening was great. The turnout was huge. The theater was beautiful. The audience laughed a lot. And asked a lot of questions. And hard questions. So hard that when one member asked me two questions I actually said, “let me start with the Israel/ Palestine question because that one is easier.” I then added, “I think I’m the first person in the entire world who’s ever said that.” Before the screening a bunch of Kinderland alumns had lunch. After the screening, the Organization Ben The Arc had an informal discussion at Arizmendi Bakery, a worker-owned cooperative.

Don’t Forget! Commie Camp’s West Coast Premiere is THIS Sunday, 8/11

Don’t forget to get your tickets for Commie Camp at The San Francisco Jewish Film Festival.

The screening is at the Grand Lake Theater at 2:20PM

at 3200 Grand Ave. Oakland, California.

I’ll be there for a Q & A!

Great Review and Great Discussion about Commie Camp

Here is a great review of my documentary Commie Camp in San Francisco’s Beyond Chron. You can read the full thing but here is an excerpt.

It is a wonderful, hopeful film raising serious issues that, thankfully, doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s a film that will make you laugh, possibly cry, and certainly have faith in at least one segment of the next generation.

Also, here is a conversation I had with Tikkun  Magazine founder and editor-in-chief Michael Lerner.

As Visionfest announced on its blog,

That’s right… we now know what well over two hundred people will be doing on the evenings of June 28th & 29th, when VF13 “Centerpiece” world premiere, COMMIE CAMP, ignites the screen at New York’s Tribeca Cinema.

Calls flooded the VF offices and tickets SOLD OUT completely for the added show in just two days, making this the fastest selling program in the 13 years that VF has been running.  The encore program block, which includes the shorts THE COLLECTOR’S GIFT, I FEEL STUPID, and THE GASKETTES, plays on Saturday evening, June 29th, at 5:30pm.
